Sweet baby moses on stilts! My computer came back to life! I think it was taking the battery out and leaving it for a while - I was just checking one last time before taking it to a data recovery man in the city tomorrow. Thank you computer gods! I am INCREDIBLY happy and I am backing it up right now (I might be an idiot, but I'm not a complete idiot!).

Though I initially read it as "mosses", and that was kind of funnier.
I have discovered by borrowing my friend's adapter that my computer works fine and it is only the adapter that's broken. Big relief, especially for data recovery reasons, because though I had most of it backed up, I am not quite switched on enough to back up every day. Though I might be more careful with my photos in future.

Thanks for being happy with me! I am feeling fairly awful this morning (sickwise, and because I stayed up late backing up) but these comments in my inbox made me all smiley again. And hurray that your computer is alive too Laura.... MAJOR kudos to the computer gods! I am absolutely hailing them right now.
I think I should have capitalised Moses, though I suppose that would have spoiled the misreading fun. G, ten bonus points! And "Congratulations" "sung" to the tune of "Pomp and Circumstance" by Jeremy Hardy :)
By the way, "Sweet baby Moses on stilts!" really was the exclamation that naturally came into my head. I am weird, not pretentious. Just wanted to clarify that.
