Chalk it up
I have been playing volleyball. You can tell from the chalk dust on my trainers:
I like having chalk dust on my trainers; it seems like a badge of honour. (It's from the chalk lines that mark out the pitch. In a pleasingly low-tech process, they lay out the lines in rope, and then walk along them with a tinful of chalk dust on a stick with holes in it. They're a wee bit wobbly.)
I also have a volleyball injury, which is quite exciting - I've never had a sporting injury before. My right index finger is OK most of the time but every time I play I inevitably jar it at some point, and it hurts like buggery and carries on being painful for a few hours and feels sort of weak and damaged. Which is slightly worrying - I have no idea if it is actually worrying or not - and rather painful... but gosh, a sporting injury, how cool is that?
I also have an attractively-bruised graze on my leg where I fell over my own feet today. But shhh, don't tell anyone.

shame you're not coming back for the tennis season... reckon you have more chance of winning Wimbledon that tiger tim... even if you played volleyball xx
