a question
Would it be terribly wrong and irresponsible of me to get a Chinese hamster?
They live 2+ years, so I'd have to find someone to look after it when I leave Mexico. I already have a volunteer for short periods if I'm not here!
I reeeeeally want a pet. The other option is a kitten...

Yes, yes you should get a hamster. Too cruel to abandon a kitten in year, plus you would be too attached.
No no no, am not that cruel - if I got a kitten I would get it a Pet Passport or whatever and bring it home. But it is not really a sensible or realistic option, I just have yearnings...
I have pretty much decided to get a pair of Chinese hamsters though, whether or not it be foolhardy, and I am extremely excited!
