...and so,

ladies and gentlemen, as the lone piper of time appears at the gates of dawn, and Dawn throws open the window and tells him where to stick his bagpipes...

it's time to mourn Humphrey Lyttleton.

I like to think that the innuendo with which the BBC video tribute ended was a deliberate tribute: "Humphrey Lyttelton possessed great talent, from his hornblowing to being a champion of silliness".

I was so sad to read the news on the BBC website at the weekend. I will probably only be consoled by a large box set of One Song To The Tune Of Another. RIP Humph.

It's a shame that there is not, in my belief, an afterlife. I think Humph would be partying quite magnificently.

The wordy rounds are actually my favourites, but I like them all... a Very Large boxed set of all the ISIHACs ever would be good. I don't suppose it will carry on without him, but I am hoping very hard against hope.
